The Clare Chamber of Commerce announces a two week Santa mail box in downtown Clare from December 7 to 21. Santa will pick up letters December 14 at 1 30 PM from Michigan Consolidated Gas, then visit the city park fire hall for goodies at 3 30 PM. Candy distribution by Clare Fire Department and Clare Manufacturing Co. aids the project. Santa will also meet shut ins and attend group events, with calls to 412 to arrange visits.

Children Sample Thanksgiving Meal Of Bible Times Food
Forty children and ten teachers and mothers attended Clare Methodist Church School’s Primary party on Saturday afternoon. They sang and played then packed sixteen boxes for shut ins, delivered after refreshments. The meal featured bread and honey grapes olives cheese and grape Kool Aid served on the floor in Jesus time fashion. Class mothers were Mrs. Neil Sowle Mrs. Francis Loomis and Mrs. Leonel Green. The Junior Department packed twenty one baskets after Sunday School for delivery.

Mrs Carrow Hosts Extension Group Meeting
The Eagle Extension Group met at Mrs Ruth Carrow’s home on Wednesday November 20 with one visitor Mrs Marion Magnus. Mrs Mary Miller chaired the business session as reports on the last council meeting were reviewed and a three member committee was chosen to prepare Christmas tea name tags for the December 12 event at Harrison Court House. The group’s Christmas party is set for December 13 with hostess Mrs Dols Kleinhardt, a fifty cent gift exchange planned, and lessons on Accessories for the Home led by Mrs Ann Kleinhardt and Mrs Ruth Carro. Clare School District Seeks $795000 Bond Issue for New High School

Youth Pays Reckless Driving Fine in Clare
A Farwell youth, 1 year old in the report, was charged with reckless driving after a November 21 arrest on West Sixth Street Clare. Donald Hazen Swinson pled guilty in Clare Municipal Court on November 25 and was fined $29.30. A separate November 23 accident on East Third Street involved Charles Hubel leaving the scene. Lillian Barns's car sustained about $500 damage and a warrant was issued for Hubel.
