Six local young men confess to a spree of crimes
A wave of petty thefts in Clare county during fall and winter ended when six young men admitted to numerous burglaries and thefts. Involved were Hunie and Bernie Cleveland aged 21 and 26 William Hanes of Farwell and others who confessed to stealing a Holstein cow and to various break ins including creameries depots and a high school. Three Women Hurt in Saturday Auto Collisions Near Clare
Two auto crashes late Saturday near Clare left three women injured. Donna Bellows of Mt Pleasant suffered severe head cuts when a car driven by Alin Fike left the road and hit a tree. A second car, with unknown driver, pulled onto the road to aid the first crash and was struck by a following vehicle carrying Joe Glenn and Marjorie and Rose Marie McFarlane from Vernon. Marjorie McFarlane cut and teeth loss, Rose Marie broken leg, both others lightly bruised. Rose Marie to graduate Clare High in 1938.

Eight year old Gordes Secor of Farwell died instantly when struck by a car driven by Olive Robinett near Farwell. The incident occurred as Gordes rode home in a Ford pickup with James Rawson. Coroner Friz and Deputy Sherif Futil concluded the accident was unavoidable and no inquest was held. Burial is planned at Mt Hope cemetery in Lansing.
