First Color Cameras Ready for Michigan Driver Licenses
Installation of the first of 48 color cameras to produce driver license photos has begun and should be finished by June 7 per James Hare Michigan Secretary of State. Clare county installs May 27, Isabella county follows, and new licenses with color photos arrive late this month or early June.

Banquet Closes Pin Season
The Gateway Ladies Friday Night League held its annual banquet May 14 at Town and Country Lounge with 100 bowlers and guests. Ford-O-Matics won both halves for undisputed championship. Step Up Safe Driving Campaign Launched Across Michigan
An intensified highway safety drive will be launched under the sponsorship of nearly 500 state leaders in government law enforcement tourism and business. Titled Bring Em Back Alive the campaign begins Memorial Day and targets the four major holidays including 4th of July Labor Day and Christmas to curb rising accident toll.

The Red Cross Blood mobile will visit Clare on Monday May 24 to recruit donors. Appointments are urged between 12 noon and 6 PM at the Clare Congregational Church large hall to help reach 150 units and prevent ending the Clare county Blood Bank membership. Volunteers can call local organizers to schedule.

112 More Trees Planted In Clare Project
Clare Kiwanis Club completed another planting of 112 shade trees along residential curb sides and terraces with cost shared by the city. White's Nursery supplied soil and supervision while three varieties Sugar Maple Norway Maple and Marshall Ash were used. The project continues next year to keep Clare beautiful and shaded, with residents urged to water trees along parkways.

Receipt for Grave Lot From 1886 Found in Cassidy Family
Mrs Claude Cassidy found an old paper among family items a receipt dated October 8 1886 for a grave lot in Surrey Township Cemetery. The full lot cost three dollars and the receipt bears the sexton Frank McLillan signature. The envelope carries a two cent first class postage stamp reflecting the era.
