A Michigan Week program in Clare features the Citizens of the Year banquet for Clare and events for Chesaning's visiting mayor and party. The day includes tours of city facilities and plants such as Holley Carburetor and Kraft Foods, an open house at Thayer Dairy, and an evening banquet at the Doherty Motor Hotel. Local 4-H dairy members toured Detroit during the 28th annual May 7 and 8 4-H Milk Marketing Tour, with Clare youths Jim Walter and Frank Hutchinson among delegates.

Clare School Board Votes On Principal Contract Controversy

The Clare School Board heard a statement signed by 170 parents urging continued administration under Principal Gerald Manville, who is not offered a contract for return. New Rosebush Bank To Rise In Modern 7 Lot Site

Hold Youths Wanted Here in Clare County Extradition Case

Clare county authorities await the outcome of extradition actions for six Saginaw youths to face charges in the armed robbery of Ulrich's Standard service station near here and a cottage break-in near Harrison. Joseph Madlin and brothers, Gary Roupel, and three Bay City girls are held in Milwaukee awaiting hearing, with the sheriff directing efforts.

EMTA Bay City reports 60 000 copies published, 10 000 more than last year, in a 128 page guide with resorts hotels restaurants and attractions plus maps for 29 eastern and central Michigan counties. Clare considers $456 020 for water and sewer upgrades

A City of Clare report outlines a $456 020 package combining water system improvements with sewer work for an industrial area near the former Watervliet Pulp Wood Yards. Contract Made For New Lake P O Building

A new post office building in Lake was assured this week with a contract awarded for construction. Neil Watkins and Avis Watkins of Lake will build and rent the structure to the Post Office Department for five years with renewal through ten. The one story building at Mys tic Lake Road and Tarry Street will cost about 13000 dollars, size 1081 square feet, and should be finished within three months after plans are approved.

Lutherans To Salhi Undertake Area Canvass

Lutherans plan evangelism canvass Sunday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church May 16. In the afternoon volunteers will visit Coleman Farwell Harrison and Clare with 100 Lutherans from Frankenmuth and 25 CMU students aiding. A dinner will be served at the 1 0 0 F hall after the canvass.

Date Set for Probate Court Vote in Clare County

Clare County schedules a primary election June 21 for a new Judge of Probate if more than two candidates qualify. If two or fewer qualify, no primary. Special election to name the judge on July 13. Former Probate Judge Robert Campbell left last month for the 21st Judicial Circuit. Petitions to qualify are due May 24, with May 27 withdrawal deadline.
