Harrison Man Drowns In Kansas

Ervin John Miller 22 formerly of Harrison died in a Missouri River fishing trip accident near Kansas City on May 12. Five friends vanished after their boat overturned. searchers recovered all five bodies. Miller leaves parents and nine siblings and services are planned in Gladwin with burial at Cedar Crest Mennonite cemetery.

Clare Woman's Bowling League Roll Off Leads To May 17 Final

The Clare Woman's Bowling Association staged the first of a two week roll off at Gateway Lanes on May 10. Standings use Peterson Point scoring with Drewry's Beer leading at 14 points and 206 pins. High games include B Bauder 245 and J Willey 202 while high series feature Bauder 598 and Willey 521. Drewrys 839 tops team game. The teams return May 17 at Clare Alleys to decide the championship.

Dam reconstruction progress on Lake Shamrock advances

Work Superintendent Don Teitz says the dam can be filled and lake flooded within two weeks, matching May 9 projections by project chairman Ken Barnes. School Buys Four Buses in Clare Board Action

The Clare School Board awarded four new buses to McGuire Brothers with Chevrolet chassis and Bluebird bodies for about 22 268 dollars, trading in two old buses. Incumbent Frank T. Walsh has long been active in Isabella county political efforts. A Kiwanis wives bake sale begins Saturday at 9:00 am May 26.
