Clare two high school students Joyce Delamarter and Sharon Gaspeny will spend the summer in Europe on the Student Exchange program arranged by the State Department. A $300 fund raised by local clubs churches and individuals will cover their expenses. Principal William Harper and Reverend Hugh Kennedy chaired the committee. The girls will reside with European families similar to foreign students in the U S.

Five Clare youths sentenced in auto stripping case
Five Clare youths pled guilty in Clare Municipal Court to taking auto parts from parked cars over recent months. Floyd Fair James Howlett Carla Trietch L. G. Thompson Jr. and Larry Thompson were each fined 14.30 and sentenced to three days in Clare County Jail. Police began inquiries after an insurance complaint and questioned over 20 youths. four other arrestees are minors awaiting Probate Court hearings.

The Tuesday Night Ladies Bowling League held its annual banquet on May 7 at Twin Elmns Country Club. League champions Drew Dairy's Beer team were honored along with Rose Neff for a 154 average, Alliene Schultz for a 603 high series, and Fran Carncross for a 288 high single game. Plan Start Of Colonville Church Work
A remodel of Colonville Church basement begins this Saturday with a work bee. Crews will remove the cement floor, then a contractor will pour a new one next week. Afterward the kitchen will be remodeled with new cupboards, partitions will create classrooms and two fellowship halls, plus painting and redecorating. Ladies Aid will serve dinner on the church lawn. The project should take about six weeks with a dedication service to follow.
