New Girl Scout Council Officers Elected Monday
Clare's Girl Scout Council and Troops and their mothers met for the last pot luck supper of the season at City Hall. An investiture ceremony prevented fifteen Girl Scouts and twenty five Brownies with pins and fi wards, Mia and Jane Calkins conducted the candlelight ceremony. Charles county color guard included Barbara Lege Barbara Calkins and Cheryl Sonntag. Kathy Kisnosky Sue Shéponski and Kay Beck were flag bearers. The Scouts and Brownies with their mothers enjoyed dance and musical numbers by members. A new slate of officers was elected for the coming year. Driver training expands high school programs in Michigan
Michigan State University driver education specialists note that student driver cars with caution signs ease fears for other motorists. Driver training has grown from a part time effort to a full program in Michigan schools, spurred by a new law requiring under 18 license applicants to complete such courses and offering schools a 25 dollar reimbursement per student. Mrs Margaret Stork aged 81 is recognized as Isabella County 4-H’s oldest leader.
