County Planning Commission meets in Clare Monday
The Clare County Planning Commission held its second meeting in the Bowler home recreation room with nearly all chairmen present. Herbert A. Berg outlined post war planning needs for Michigan and the county, stressing large unemployment during reconversion and the need to create a public works program to retrain and employ returning veterans and adjust farms, recreation, minerals, and industrial sites.

Nolan Youngster Escapes Serious Injury in Fall
Delbert Jr nineteen months old son of Mr and Mrs Delbert Nolan fell from a second story window onto the cement sidewalk at 210 East State Street Wednesday afternoon. He was taken to Dr Sanford and later examined by Dr Harrigan no bones broken but bruises and shock reported.

Isabella Township Library Moves to New Rooms
The Isabella Township Library hosts an open house on Friday May 12 in its new room once occupied by Orville Graham. Librarian Rose Mary Lynch says the renovated space houses books and materials in a more convenient layout as the library grows. Delphine Balge, the first librarian, prepared a history sketch to be published next week.

C G M Association Holds Business Meet in Harrison
The Clare Gladwin and Midland Counties District Association of Eastern Star met at Edith Bucholz's Harrison home for their annual business meeting. Former Grant Township Resident Dies in Seattle
Stoll, once a Grant township resident in the early 1900s, died in Seattle Washington on Sunday April 16 and was buried there the following Tuesday. He was the uncle of Mrs. Wm Teale of Clare and Mrs. Earl Town of Farwell.

Vivan Douglas Sentenced to Jackson Prison Tuesday
Vivan Douglas held on a daytime breaking and entering charge was sentenced to four-and-a-half to five years in Jackson prison by Judge Ray Hart. Sheriff Amble took him south on Wednesday. Hd Wiltse of Lake pled guilty to using a trap net in a trout stream and was fined twenty five dollars plus costs. He was apprehended by Officers Frisby, Skinner and Tennant. Charles Hahn of Harrison was issued a summons for reckless driving after a traffic collision at US-27 and US-10, pleaded guilty, fined ten dollars plus three dollars thirty-five cents costs, and placed on six months probation. Lorraine Nunn of Coleman involved in the incident. no injuries, minor property damage.

Methodists Hold Conference Here Friday Evening
The Clare Farwell Methodist Churches held their fourth quarterly conference at the Clare church on Friday April 28. Rev Byron Hahn District Superintendent led a devotional from Hebrews on faith and prayer. Mrs Reva Maxwell was secretary pro tem. Reports from both charges were satisfactory and Rev Charles Hahn requested to remain with an increased salary. Nominating committee elected trustees and stewards for Clare and Farwell with numerous named members and officers.

The Office of Price Administration in Washington announced that starting midnight Wednesday all meats except beef steaks and roasts would be ration free. Pork veal lamb and mutton and many beef products join the list while red stamp requirements double for households four weeks.

Wisler Dominates State Gas Bowling Tourney
George Wisler of Mt. Pleasant led the Michigan Consolidated Gas Company state bowling tournament in Grand Rapids with a 266 high single game, edging runner up 223. He also earned the doubles trophy and plans to defend his title in Detroit next year.
