Mrs El Riegle Dies After Fall Injuries
Mrs. El Riegle long time resident of the city died Monday at Brandstetter hospital Mt Pleasant from injuries after a fall Saturday evening at home. She broke her hip when a chair tipped over as she sat down. Funeral services were held Thursday at 9 06 from St Cecilia church with Rev Fr Stanley Morrison officiating and interment in the church cemetery.

Record hailstorm hits Clare with large stones
Clare endured a severe hailstorm last Monday afternoon as a heavy rain burst drenched the town. Hail stones measured from an inch to one and a half inches, with reports of five and a half inch circumferences north of the city. No major damage or disruption noted, aside from trout fishermen abandoning flooded streams. Mrs. A. W. Herrick returned home on Hemlock Street after winter in Detroit.

Taft Highway Association Names Vice President
The third annual meeting of the William Howard Taft Memorial Highway Association was held at the Argonne Hotel Lima Ohio with representatives from Michigan Ohio Kentucky Tennessee and Georgia Florida not represented. Michigan officers include Vice President William Lee Park Clare and others chaired by Houghton Lake executive Frank R Johnson. Van Waginer attended expressing support for the Taft highway movement. The summer meeting will be at Rustic Pavilion in August with Frank R Johnson hosting from Houghton Lake.

Pioneer Woods Man Dies at Loomis Home
Steward Wilson Gerow born August 5 1850 near Bellville Ontario was a pioneer lumberman who settled in Sheridan township then Loomis Michigan. He died April 28 after six months illness leaving a wife six children, siblings, twenty two grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Effects of Stroke Snaps Life of Mrs Ed Runyan
Sheridan friends mourn the death of Mrs Ed Runyan after a stroke struck her at the Allen home on April 27. Born May 20 1861 in Simco Canada she died at age 71 11 7. She leaves a husband a daughter Mrs Robert Wilson and a step daughter Mrs Fred Allen. Services were held at the Hagle church with Revs Hendrich and Elliott. burial followed at Cherry Grove.

James Teall Rome in Sheridan Dam Aged by Fire
The James Teall farm home four miles east and north of the city was damaged by fire last Thursday evening. An upstairs room blaze of unknown origin was fought by neighbors and Teall's son Ralph with powder extinguishers and water but spread. The rural fire truck arrived and saved the building, with damage about 150 dollars fully covered by insurance.

Lee Dunwoodie Dies at Home in Detroit
Mrs Florence Dunwoodie reports the death of her son Lee Dunwoodie of Detroit from throat trouble. A Clare native, he spent boyhood here, later moved to Detroit, and served nearly thirty years with the Post Office between Detroit and Saginaw. His body was brought home for interment with short services by Rev J B Lockyer. The life sketch will be published next week.

Mrs Frank McDonald Ends Life at Forest Hill Home
Relatives and friends were shocked when Mrs. Frank McDonald of Forest Hill killed herself by cutting her throat the evening before. The McDonalds had farm ties in Verrington Township and she had taught in several schools. Mr. McDonald left the farm on an errand and found her body on the hearth stairs. no motive is given for the act.
