Board of Education Sells Refunding Bonds at Lower Interest
The Board of Education sold 78000 dollars of refunding bonds to Stranahan Harris and Company on Monday at 3 1 4 percent. Four firms bid after one sealed bid was opened. The original 1921 issue of 120000 at 6 percent was reduced to 78000 over 15 years. The new serial bonds retire over 15 years with 5000 annual payments for 12 years and 6000 for the final 3 years. No defaults, funds set aside previously. The rate cut from 6 to 8 1 4 percent yields savings for the district.
