Miss Yoder reported extensive activity including 48 schools inspected and 16838 children examined, plus 322 defects corrected and 180 children treated with Tox in Anti Toxin. The meeting praised Yoder’s work, elected new officers, and planned continued support and expansion of welfare efforts.

Respected Pioneer Brought Here for Burial on Monday
The remains of Mrs Anna F Wing a pioneer of Vernon township were brought to Clare for interment in Cherry Grove cemetery Monday from Melvindale where she died February 28 after a week's illness. Born November 14 1844 in Dorn Ireland she came to America at age three and settled in Grand Bend Ontario before marrying Lawson Wing May 25 1860. The couple moved to Vernon township in 1865 and settled on a farm on U S 27 six miles south of Clare. They later moved to Ypsilanti then Melvindale where she resided with her daughter Mrs Frank Falk. Surviving are nine children fourteen grandchildren fourteen great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday forenoon at the Presbyterian church.

Alice M Hochstetler, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Frank M Hochstetler, died Tuesday morning March 3 after contracting smallpox while employed at Pontiacs Millward Ford Sales. Born October 18 1908 in Arthur Illinois she lived in Harrison and Clare and studied at Ferris Institute and Central State Teachers College. She taught two years and was active in First Congregational church. Survived by parents sister Wilma brothers Virgil Billy Phillip and grandparents D C Hochstetler. Funeral at Cherry Grove cemetery with Rev H B Johnson and Mrs W S McAllister singing.

The funeral for Clara Elmer McJames Maxwell was conducted by Rev. W W Hurd at the Maxwell home in the Herrick community Saturday afternoon. A large crowd attended to honor the esteemed pioneer woman and her long family ties.

Death Claims Aged Resident Jemima Morden
The funeral for Jemima Ramey Morden was held at Clare Methodist Church with Rev. W. W. Hurd officiating. Born in Metcalf Canada in 1853, she married Wesley Morden in 1870 and lived in Clare and Vernon Township until her death after a two week paralysis. She leaves a grandson in Detroit and a sister in Sarnia.
