Ralph Stevens of Clare learns his brother Harry Stevens died in Chicago and funeral services were held there. Leonard Mervill, formerly of Clare, died at Flint home February 27 aged 81 with funeral at Thornton's and burial in Cherry Grove Cemetery. his survivors include his wife, three sons and four daughters.

Luke Hamlin of Lake George was named to the International League Baseball Hall of Fame on January 29. He debuted with the Detroit Tigers in 1938 and pitched for them through 1934, reaching his career peak with the Brooklyn Dodgers as a winner with twenty peers.

James Wheaton thirteen died from a head injury after slipping on ice near school February 24. Born in South Bend he moved to Clare in 1954 with his parents. Survived by parents two sisters and a brother. Services were held in Angola Indiana with burial there.

Mr and Mrs L E Davy learned Friday morning that their son in law Rev Joseph Kennedy of Mt Clemens died suddenly of a heart attack. Funeral services were held Monday at the Presbyterian Church where he had served as pastor for 23 years. He leaves a wife Florence five children and his mother. Donations to the church building fund were requested in lieu of flowers.
