About 162 attendees gathered in the Clare High School gym for the first banquet of the Clare High School Alumni Association. Superintendent W Roger Zinn and class of 1913 member George White chaired the program with remarks from Winnie Merrill Tasker and Donald Holbrook. Principal G R Bogan received praise as elected superintendent. enrollment reached 525 with 217 in high school, and plans for next banquet and new athletic field land were discussed.

Quiet home wedding for local teacher in Mt. Pleasant

Both graduates of Central State Teachers College, the couple will reside in Mt. Pleasant with Mr Kidder pursuing a master’s degree.

Good Literature Club Picnic Amid Weather Wins Praise

Windover Camp Provides A Daily Rhythm For Local Boys
At Camp Windover H B Johnson and twenty five boys start at six each morning with hearty meals and a mix of work and play. Guards patrol the site while boys, many away from home for the first time, learn duties with cheerful discipline. Johnson, nicknamed Dad, discusses life facts, and Mrs Johnson’s kindness earns nine rahs from the group. Stanley Parrish, the youngest camper, serves as minis cot with growing veteran poise. The camp offers non troop youth a chances at ideal training under a trusted friend of boys.

Mrs SophIa Northey Crosses Great Divide
Sophia Nichol s born June 20 1839 Smithtown Ont died June 17 1927 Buffalo N Y at 87 11 28. She married Richard Northey in 1863 and ran a store and post office in Selwyn. The family moved to Michigan in 1882 living in Montague and Clare. She leaves a son a daughter three grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Cherry Grove with interment there.

Indian kills a freak of nature near Mt Pleasant
