About two thousand people witnessed eighty nine rural eighth grade graduates receive state diplomas at an outdoor ceremony in Wilson State Park Clare county teachers and students organized a festive gathering. The event showcased community pride in education with remarks by Rev. A F Light and salutatory by Hanice Marie Sunday praising Michigan public schools.

Remains of Ira Tenant Brought for Burial
Leroy Tenant of Flint traveled to Clare for his son Ira Tenant who died in Cadillac Tuesday night. The body was moved to Thurston Funeral Home for services Sunday at eleven and burial in Cherry Grove. The Tenant family long lived in the city and friends regret his passing.

Harrison lad struck by automobile in Saginaw death follows
Donald McCartney son of Mr and Mrs Richard McCartney of Harrison was struck by a car Monday evening near five o clock while visiting in Saginaw. He died Wednesday morning at 5 00 oclock after his skull was fractured in the collision. He was hospitalized at General hospital and conveyed to his home for burial.

Beginning Friday at 8:00, Model A Ford owners visited the local dealer to test fuel economy. Wm Gerow led with 29.5 mpg in a 1929 Town Sedan, earning the first prize. second prizes went to Art Fleming Earl Dwyer and Gerald Nivison tied at 28.5 mpg. Fred Snyder of Farwell was taken into custody Saturday in connection with the death of Howard Emerson Siel who was struck on West 5th street August 11, 1928.
