Vernell Reeder Struck By Car In Rainy Detroit Intersection
Vernell Doc Reeder was seriously injured with a compound fracture of the right knee and other injuries after being struck by a car traveling without lights near Hamilton and Baltimore in Detroit. The accident occurred about 11:00 p.m. last Wednesday as he and Mrs. Reeder and another couple attempted to cross. Poor visibility due to rain contributed to the crash. the car dragged him about forty feet before rushing to Harper Hospital. Doctors report he remains in the hospital with injuries and is expected to recover.

Jennie Fisher Dies After Ill Health in Michigan Hospital
Clare resident Jennie Fisher died at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids after six months of illness. Born Jennie Laar in Paulding Ohio on June 17 1884 she lived with her husband Charles B Fisher until his death in 1938. She moved to Lake Odessa then Clare and finally to Lake Odessa to live with her daughter. The funeral arrangements are pending with Doherty Funeral Home and she will be buried beside her husband in St Cecilia's cemetery. Her life story will appear next week.
