Arts-N-Crafts Festival to Draw 5000 in Clare in July
The third annual Arts-N-Crafts Festival will be July 2 and 3 at Clare City Park drawing over 5000 attendees from across Michigan. The event coincides with Clare Sidewalk Sale and calls for displays of original works and various music. Applications for booth space are due June 18 and music acts should contact Ruth Martin. Grants totaling 55000 support instructional equipment under Public Law 90-576 with 50 percent from the college.

Fire on Eberhart Road flares up as DNR assists
A stubborn sawdust and slab fire on Eberhart Road just north of Dover Road, started by property owner Jeff Fink, re-ignited on Thursday, June 10. The blaze drew units from the Department of Natural Resources and the Clare Fire Department.

Missing Mt. Pleasant youth found after campground search
A 23 year old mentally handicapped man from Mt. Pleasant State Home was found near Camp Rotary after a day and a half missing. Clare County Sheriff and DNR coordinated a large search with volunteers and air support, locating him at 11 15 a.m. June 11 four miles south of the camp. He had disappeared about 9 p.m. June 10, wearing dark clothing and was slightly injured but in manageable condition.
