Clare voters approve 17 mill school levy in close turnout
In Clare 395 of 2400 registered voters cast ballots as John Meyers finished third with 109 votes and Mervyn Maxwell 101. Don Blow, a Farwell teacher and businessman, tallied 41 votes. Voters approved a 17 mill operational levy to run schools, with 274 yes to 151 no. A proposed $2.2 million bond for a new high school failed earlier, 509 no to 368 yes.

In Clare Coleman approved a 17 mill operational levy while Harrison voters rejected a 2.2 million bond. Glenn Thomas retained the Clare School Board seat with 269 votes, defeating Bern ie Wyman who had 156 votes.
