Children's Day was observed on Sunday June 4 at Clare Methodist Church during Sunday School. Attendance reached about 200 as Mrs B H Sternaman opened services. Children and teachers performed a long program of recitations exercises and songs led by Janet Becker Delta Lee Walker and others. The offering from Mr Jackson's class went to the Methodist Children's Educational Fund.

Third Annual Janitors Club Trip A Success
The Clare County Rural School Janitors club completed its third year with a 71 person trip to northern Michigan. Sixty-one rural school pupils joined sixty teachers and guides on two buses operated by Franklin and Frost unit districts. The trip funds come from a pupil fund used for year end travel and education. Details of the itinerary will be published next week.

Twenty conservationists hoeed a five acre patch at the wildlife preserve to raise feed for birds and animals. Deer sightings occur near local landmarks including the Lutheran church and a cottage near Tobacco River. Edna Ree, eight, caught a Rainbow trout at Mill Pond weighing two and a half pounds and twenty inches long.

Seven Year Old Girl Injured After Car Door Opens
Rosalie Weise seven, daughter of Mr and Mrs Monroe Weise of Midland, was seriously injured when a car door opened near the Lake Fire tower five miles west of Farwell on US 10. She fell onto the pavement while trying to close the door and was treated at Bentley home then Midland hospital for bruises and shock, released the same evening.

A Michigan Agricultural Committee report says normal fruit production could supply every family with four bushels apples two bushels peaches one bushel pears 47 pounds cherries and 105 pounds grapes. The Michigan Days campaign aims to widen markets boost consumption of canned fruits jellies extracts and juices and lift farm income and employment. The total income from these crops averages over 12 million dollars annually.
