The War Food Administration and the Dairy Industry Committee unveiled an eight point program directing farmers to maximize milk production this year. The June 7 order from the Office of Defense Transportation lifts local transport limits for Great Lakes Greyhound Lines between Bay City and Clare and connected points. Passengers from Bay City may ride to Midland Coleman and Clare and purchase tickets at Ludington division offices for Saginaw Flint Pontiac or Detroit. When schedules bunch up Yellow Bus Lines or Rogers Motor Lines load first. Great Lakes becomes second section. Great Lakes tickets sold at all stations.

Isabella County Pioneer Edward Reakes Dies Near Clare
Edward Lorenzo Reakes 83 died at Clare hospital after a short illness. He lived on the family farm south of Clare for 40 years and fronted as a farmer and Justice of the Peace. Survived by wife Mary, son John of Clare, daughter Mrs Winifred Nevins of Alma, a brother Robert, and one granddaughter. Funeral at Thurston Funeral Home led by John H. Wall. burial at Cherry Grove Cemetery.

Officials say the duration is unclear but expect roughly four months like Stamp 17. Each family member gets one Stamp 18 and may share it within the household. Floods wash out Tobacco dam and claim two youths
A cloudburst and record floods breached the Callam tobacco river dam washing out the north wing and spreading destruction along the Dover road. Seventeen year old Phillip Abbott drowned while fishing as rescuers, including state police and Civil Air Patrol, searched the swollen river and finally found his body near Eberhart bridge three miles east of US 27.
