Postponed hearing in Clare County fence dispute with Eaton pair

The show cause hearing in Clare County's suit against Howard and wife Hazel Eaton of Harrison is indefinitely postponed as county attorney Jay Trucks and the Eatons seek a settlement. The county seeks injunction to stop the couple from fencing the roadway into the fair parking area. The fence was removed last week and Eaton says the action aimed to prompt response after seven years of attempts. County claims a 1959 agreement allowed a road 20 feet from the south fair ground and 20 feet from the Eaton property, but the road was never built.
