Kiwanians Hear of Mystic Lake Camp Activities

Bay City Kiwanis members attended Clare Kiwanians dinner at Hotel Doherty. Speaker Andy Santanen of Lansing discussed Mystic Lake Y M C A summer camp near Lake Station and its staff Hack Turney and Walker provided musical selections. A follow up program is planned under President Holbrook and Secretary Bayes.

Cow Injures Woman When Guarded by Dog at Gladwin Farm

Faith Griffin of R-3 Gladwin was hospitalized at Clare Hospital with three deep lacerations and heavy blood loss after a cow attacked her and trampled her, sparked by a dog accompanying her. Her condition is improved and hospitalization is about ten days.

Death of Ella B. Nephew at Pontiac hospital

Mrs. Ella B. Nephew of Lake Orion dies after a month long illness at a Pontiac hospital on July 7. Born April 5 1905 in Clare County she was the daughter of Harry and Alma Brockway. She leaves husband Elmer and children Theola and Gerald with her mother brothers Hart and Howard and several relatives. Funeral at Allen's Funeral Home Saturday at 2 pm with burial in Hast Lawn Cemetery beside her daughter.

Shot Through Car Frightens Boys Saturday Night

City Police were called to Lone Pine Restaurant at 1:30 Saturday morning. a bullet pierced the ventilator window of a 1948 Ford pickup, narrowly missing the back seat occupants. Fragments were found. the shot likely came from deer hunting nearby. Several motorists received summonses for traffic violations in Justice Dunlop's court, with fines ranging from 3 to 25 dollars.

Funeral services for George M. Keeler who died in an automobile crash July 4 were conducted July 7 at the Doherty Funeral Home and Twinings Methodist Church with burial in Mason Township Cemetery. He was born May 3, 1869 in Sanilac County and died at age 79. Survived by wife Matilda of Farwell, two daughters Mrs. Ernest Edwards and Mrs. Ernest Orton, a son Roy, one brother and a sister, 32 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren. Clare Legion Juniors Clinch First Half Title In rout

The Clare American Legion Junior League team defeated Alma 14 to 6 to secure the first half championship. Every Clare player except the bat boy saw action as they built an early 2-0 lead and exploded for nine runs in the second inning to lead 11-0. Clare and Alma top the standings with 5–3 and 3–3 records, respectively, and Clare will play in the district playoff at Bay City on Saturday July 17 at St Stanislaus field. A second-half schedule is being arranged.

Junior Police Trip Set for July 19 21

More than 100 Mich igan Table Top Licensees Congress officers and county unit reps gathered at Clare city hall for a summer meeting. State officials Walter Noack and A P Gross spoke as the group noted Michigan’s clean record on liquor traffic. The evening banquet at Clare Country Club featured Marl Hebert presiding and tributes to Floyd Rosier and Art Damoth for organizing local units.

Rotarians Take Bird's Eye Flight Over Clare

Rotarians enjoyed sightseeing flights from Clare airport during a noon visit hosted by Court Bauer's Flying Service. Court and Howard Everts piloted planes as members toured hangars and office space, seeing a new all metal flying station wagon and several light craft, a welcome change from routine club activities.
