Shot Through Car Frightens Boys Saturday Night
City Police were called to Lone Pine Restaurant at 1:30 Saturday morning. a bullet pierced the ventilator window of a 1948 Ford pickup, narrowly missing the back seat occupants. The Clare American Legion Junior League team defeated Alma 14 to 6 to secure the first half championship. Every Clare player except the bat boy saw action as they built an early 2-0 lead and exploded for nine runs in the second inning to lead 11-0. Clare and Alma top the standings with 5–3 and 3–3 records, respectively, and Clare will play in the district playoff at Bay City on Saturday July 17 at St Stanislaus field.
