Mrs. Kate Stevens of Clare hosts her cousin Mrs. F Acre for an extended visit. Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Comer and daughter Hazel visit relatives and spend the weekend with their parents. Hazel stays with grandparents for a longer visit while Mrs. Calvin Guest improves and may soon go home from the hospital. Chas Teall and wife rush home after learning their son-in-law died. K A Turner ferries his mother to Sunfield, returning Sunday. Rain arrives aiding crops especially beans and potatoes. Lester Allens is able to work again.

East Lincoln Vacation Guests and Local Visits

East Lincoln residents and visitors holidayed around the Fourth. Oscar Kube of Mancelona spent time with his parents, while Harry Armstrong of Saginaw and many others traveled to Mudlake and Greenwood for weekend gatherings. Families from Alma, Farwell, and Detroit joined relatives at local homes and cottages, with fishing outings and cottage construction noted.

Rev Bates preached in place of Rev Snider Sunday evening. Rain comes as welcome relief to Arthur Center

ARTHUR CENTER residents welcomed the rain last Friday with more desired but gratefully accepted showers. Several local families spent the Fourth at Harrison with the Leitners, and others from Pontiac, Detroit, and Flint joined in weekend visits and meals. Kenneth Roller showed improvement with flowers sent by friends, while Edith Myers from Flint planned a two month vacation at home.

A. J. Peckham presented State Treasurer Frank D. McKay with a check for 1 436 550.28 covering Michigan taxes for 1924. The company paid 531 449.78 to the U S government and total taxes reached 1 968 000 06, higher than a decade ago and linked to rising operating costs.

Lena Melissa Mallony Rodgers, born Mount Nebo Nebraska October 26 1860, died July 2 1925 at her daughter's home in Durand Michigan. She married Anderson Rodgers January 14 1878 and left six children Wm B Detroit Grace Way Durand Ira D Farwell and Milward Flint. The remains were buried July 4 in Surrey cemetery Rev Nash officiating. two grandchildren and many relatives mourn.
