State Farm Management Tour Saginaw County Farms Open
The 22nd annual State Farm Management Tour in Saginaw County runs July 14 15 with MSU specialists presenting at diverse farms near Frankenmuth and Chesaning Tours start from 1 p.m. Tuesday from the American Legion Hall Frankenmuth including Kunik Farms Flatland Farms and Don Albosta stops Rotational experiments at Ferden Research Farm near Chesaning and Morrow Bros & Sons Bins Farm and Elmwood Farms are featured Illinois. The event includes an evening Bavarian program and a Wednesday noon luncheon at the Saginaw County Fairgrounds with Dr Clifton R Wharton Jr of MSU speaking.

Two reasons for the trend are phase converters and a new breed of single phase motors. Marathon and General Electric offer single phase motors up to 40 hp for farm use. Three phase motors have good starting characteristics and can be used on single phase lines with a phase converter.
