Bowling Team Earns Prizes in State Tournament
Marble Auto Collision ladies bowling team captain Phyllis Hartshorn reports prize money from February state tournaments in Jackson. Team placed 68th in team event of 900 plus, scoring 2773 and earning 50 dollars. Frances Bolle and Phyllis Hartshorn earned several cash awards across singles doubles and all events.

Field Trials For Retrievers Near Saginaw This Sunday
The first retriever field trial north of Detroit, near Saginaw, will host about 25 dogs from Labrador Golden and Chesapeake Bay lines. Tests in Derby under two years and open all age divisions will be conducted at the Wacker Timm marsh starting 9 a m with free admission.

Blood tests scheduled for food handlers in Farwell and Harrison
Health District Seven sets blood testing for food handlers in Farwell at the Methodist church basement July 14 from 9 to 11 am and 1 to 5 pm. Harrison testing occurs July 13 at the Court House basement with hours 9 to 11 am and 1 to 6 pm. The service is free and offers Food Handlers cards. Blood testing has already been done in Clare.

Lightning struck the Frederick Sexton farm barn near Clare during a Friday night storm, burning the structure and 60 tons of hay. Eleven cows seven young cattle and three hogs were lost, with some livestock saved in silo pits. Insurance partially covered the loss.
