Mrs Mildred Dorothy Ackerman formerly Miss Mildred Krell died in Allegan hospital after delivering her first child. She was 25 years old, born August 2 1916 in Clare county. She leaves husband Bernard and newborn son, plus her parents, siblings, and relatives. Funeral services were held at Thurston Funeral Home and St John Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev Leyter officiating.

Hereford Cattle Thrill at W C Cornwell Ranch in Clare
The W C Cornwell Ranch nine miles north and two miles east of Clare hosts a grand Hereford cattle round-up. A shipment of ten carloads from West Texas arrived last Saturday and 500 head were gathered on Section 19 in Arthur township. The 10,000 acre operation spans Arthur Hatton and Hamilton townships with 65 miles of fencing and multiple water sources, including several trout streams and five small lakes. Stittsworth Passes Away at Daughter’s Home
Allack Hogar Stittsworth longtime community resident dies at his daughter Mrs. Emery Bonham’s Clare home after several weeks illness. Born February 23, 1879 in Peru Indiana he moved to Paulding Ohio at seventeen married Fairy Belle Leeth in 1902 and had three children Lyman Cole Fairy Mildred who died in infancy and Leona Madeline Bonham. Survived by three children six grandchildren a brother Britten and his wife who predeceased him. Funeral at Thurston Funeral Home Friday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Frank Krchmar, 18, of Lake George, pleaded guilty to arson in Circuit Court Tuesday. Sheriff Seaver Amble investigated after a fire at a nearby farm house prompted charges and testimony, with Erchmar admitting presence at the scene before admitting to lighting a cigarette and the match that sparked the blaze.
