Breckenridge Motorcyclists Hit by Hit and Run Driver

Two Breckenridge men, Russell Federspiel and Alton Baker, riding home on a motorcycle were struck about five miles north of Harrison by a hit and run driver. Federspiel suffered a crushed foot requiring amputation and leg fractures, while Baker sustained leg and arm injuries. They were treated locally and then moved to Sag inaw General Hospital where Federspiel required a blood transfusion and additional surgery. his condition was critical Wednesday.

Harrison Marion Road M-61 Approved This Week

John Asline reports that Governor Brucker’s administration approved establishing Trunk Line M-61 between Marion and Harrison. Funds this year limit work to signage, but the move starts long delayed improvements. Asa Aldrich is credited for steadfast advocacy guiding M-61 toward final establishment.

Ronald Russell Weds Gladwin County Teacher

Ronald Russell wed Miss Mildred Hill of Gladwin on June 11 in Owosso with Rev. Eugene Allen officiating. Attendants were Miss Gertrude Borney and Robert Hill. The couple will reside with his mother in Vernon and return to teaching positions in Estey schools this fall.

A Kennedy Golf Course Architect Company representative from Detroit will lay out and build the Bowler course on the Bowles farm 44 2 miles north of Clare. Alfalfa Day Set to Highlight Clare Alfalfa Event

Clare County farmers, wives, and business leaders planned an all day Alfalfa Day for August 10 with the Michigan State College soils crops and dairy departments aboard a special Ann Arbor Railway car laboratory to test soils, advise on crop mix and varieties, discuss dairy seed costs, and feature home economics demonstrations plus a noon basket picnic with free ice cream and chocolate milk.

Margaret Woodward Injured by Yearling Colt

Margaret Woodward twelve year old daughter of L L and Isabel Woodward was injured at the Beatty home Vernon township when a yearling colt reared and crushed her right leg. The injury caused a deep gash and facial bruising but no bones were broken. She is recovering but will fear handling unfamiliar horses.
