The Hotel Doherty unveils a new cocktail lounge replacing the old snack bar. Featuring a 36 foot U bar Honduras mahogany top and leather front, island backbar, tan and bone white leather booths, formica tops, and imported bent wood chairs. Grand opening set for Thursday February 5 with Miss Tyrumbell's All Girl Orchestra providing entertainment. Local contractors and suppliers from Clare and Saginaw contributed to the project.

Miss Alice Sutton longtime community member died Friday at the University Hospital in Ann Arbor after years of illness. Born October 12 1911 in Clare Michigan she suffered infantile paralysis exophthalmic thyroid and a severe car crash before two ligations and a thyroidectomy. She died January 23 1942 aged 30 with services at Doherty Funeral Home and burial in Cherry Grove cemetery.
