Local residents share visits and celebrations across Saginaw Midland Breckenridge and Clare. Notables include Joan and Frank gatherings, birthday observances, hospital stays, and a new Harrison Home Extension Group formed with demonstrations and upcoming meetings.
On January 16 the Womens Missionary Council held its first meeting for devotion and service along the missionary line. On Sunday at 7 30 p m Rev TD Thodeson Ludington Assembly of God Church pastor was guest speaker with special music.
The Clare Methodist Church held sermons on The Man Twice Born and The Rim of Asia with Dr Glen Frye guest speaker announced for January 27. The fourth Quarterly Conference reported strong attendance and new officers slate for the year beginning June 1. The Clare Congregational Church outlined church wide coordination measures and announced 1963 officer slate.
Eagle Church of God led by Rev Elza Beery holds Sunday School at 10 39 and church service at 11 30. St John’s Ev Lutheran on US 27 North End of Clare with Rev Raymond Schultz presiding at 10 45 and Sunday School at 9 30.
Rural news notes a Friday card party hosted by Mr and Mrs Dale Laverty. No Grange this week. Farwell FFA boys and F H A girls held an ice skating party on Stevenson Lake Saturday. Clare Mfg Company Credit Union held a party and meeting at Farwell Gym with about 300 attendees.
At the annual meeting Mr. and Mrs. Anton Wedal chair the church's leadership. Irene Davy and Dr. J R Gershon are among officers. The Music Committee includes Frances Anderson Bud Anderson Lionel Duncan Truman Glenn Clyde Westfall J R Gershon George Finch Harold Fleming and Harold Hughes. The budget goal is $17 450 for home and world missions in 1963.
More than five hundred Isabella County youths aged 10 to 13 have enrolled in a 13 week 4-H TV Electrical Program. The Saturday morning series runs 9:00 to 9:30 a m on WIJRT Channel 12 Flint starting January 19. Jim Culver leads demonstrations and electrical science concepts with cost free enrollment through local teachers or principals.
MSU specialist Charles Shick defines conservation as smart use without waste. He notes multiple use, involving soil and water care, wildlife, and forestry, with public involvement shaping future standards of living. The MSU Extension Folder F-315 offers guidance and rewards for 4-H participation.
