The Clare Chamber of Commerce unanimously reelected Carl Holbrook as president for a third year at the annual meeting held at Phelps Cafeteria. Thirty six business leaders attended despite sub zero weather. The group reported 54 paid members and a treasury balance of 265 dollars and highlighted support for local projects including water, paving along U. S. 10, dairy expansion, a storm sewer on East Highth Street, and philanthropic gifts to the Clare High School band. Paul D. Gibson outlined county agricultural plans with emphasis on dairy herd improvement and stock breeding.

Last Rites Held Tuesday for Aged Pioneer
The body of Bert Allen was brought to Clare Tuesday and funeral services were held from the Methodist church in the afternoon. Rev. H. W. Hurd officiated. The deceased had lived near Clare for years, since his wife’s death seven years ago, and had lived with his children. Death occurred at Arbor hospital. A life sketch will appear next week.
