Tobacco River Station Gets Major Improvement Project
The Tobacco River Feeding Station five miles north of Farwell is undergoing extensive upgrades by Colored Veterans CCC Camp Temple enrollees. The plan includes four trout rearing ponds enlarged to 200 by 20 feet, a three room caretaker cabin, a rustic bridge, a spring house, bulkhead walls, a new road, and landscaping with native plantings under MECW supervision led by Sam Cline and Robert Fortney.

A fire at Loomis Machine Shop on East 4th Street caused about 600 in damage when a gasoline tank exploded in an electric welder as Mr. Loomis filled the tank. The interior was badly scorched and smoked, owned by D E Mater, with part of the loss covered by insurance.

Mrs E J McDonald Called Beyond at Daughter's Home
Eliza Jane McMater born January 20 1862 in Ontario died January 8 1936 at her daughter's home in Clark County Michigan after a life as a pioneer wife mother and farmer. She married John Henry Smith in Ontario and moved to Sanilac then Sheridan Township. After his death she married James McDonald and later moved among relatives in Ontario Alberta and Michigan. She left eight children 18 grandchildren and a great grandchild. She died peacefully with faith in Jesus and was buried in Cherry Grove cemetery.

The jury in People v Mrs Elizabeth Rowland found her guilty of conspiring to murder her two daughters after a six and a half hour deliberation. Judge Ray Hart sentenced Rowland to three and a half to five years in the Detroit House of Correction. Frank Sutton received six months to two years for probation violation in a related session. Rowland was taken to Detroit by officers.

Arthur Campeau dies at daughter's home in Grant Township
Arthur Joseph Campeau died Thursday at the Clare County home of his daughter Mrs. Manuel Sutton after months of illness. Born in Quebec on April 22, 1858, he moved to the United States at seventeen, lived in Detroit briefly, then resided in Clare County. He married Catherine Colmus in 1888, who died in 1910, and they had seven children, five surviving: Mrs. Manuel Sutton Clare Arthur Campeau Saginaw Leo J Campeau Harrison Mrs. Frank Ackerman Saginaw and Mrs. Irene Cote.
