Mr and Mrs Jasper Snider marked their sixty third wedding anniversary at their Ver ton Hill home with many friends visiting from the city and countryside. They have four sons and three daughters all at home except one daughter in California. The couple moved to Wise township in 1890 and to their present home ten years later. Mrs Snider is 83 and has been frail this winter while Mr Snider, 88, remains in good health.

Respectful Grant Township Pioneer Passes in 1930
William James Allen born August 16 1845 in Matlock Canada and died January 11 1930 at eighty one years five months twenty five days. He sailed the Great Lakes from age seventeen until 1881 then moved to Michigan settling near Clare with wife Francis Hockswith. Survived by two sons Scott Maurice and two daughters Bessie Saul and Madie Montney, eight grandchildren and more kin. Funeral service by Rev H B Johnson at Thurston Funeral Home Clare with interment in Cherry Grove cemetery.

Victim Identified in Gratiot Avenue Auto Crash
Ralph Leibrand a 22 year old civil engineer formerly of Bay City was identified after nearly 18 hours at the morgue. He died when struck by Frank Powell 19 at Gratiot and Loretta avenues as Powell’s car traveled 130 feet. Powell faces negligent homicide charges pending police investigation.
