Clare considers term lengths and arming auxiliary police

Clare city officials weighed extending commissioner terms under a new state law and voted to amend ordinances allowing auxiliary police to carry weapons while on duty. Clare approves $24 yearly rubbish fee for twice weekly pickup

Snomobiler Dies in Snowmobile Crash Near Farwell

Clare man Gerry W. Lloyd 29 died after his snowmobile struck a parked car on the shoulder of U.S. 10 two-tenths of a mile west of Lydell Road. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Clare Osteopathic Hospital. Lloyd worked as a lineman for Consumers Power Co. and is survived by his wife Kathleen and two children. Funeral services were set at Stephenson Doherty Funeral Home. A separate New Year’s Eve crash near Eight Point Lake injured Mrs. James Sykora. Police urge safe operation and staying off roads.
