Freezing rain cut service to 7,800 Consumers Power customers in Clare for 18 minutes from 12:01 to 12:19 p.m. The break came after a palloping conductor caused a tie wire to snap on a 46 000 volt feeder, starting a fire. Crews rerouted to another feeder as hospital staff prepared for a standby generator. Heavy snow and mud delayed access to the broken line.
