Can Yet Sign Soil Bank Contracts
The deadline to sign Soil Bank Conservation Reserve contracts for 1957 has been extended to April 15 from March 15. Conditions For Deer In Michigan Last Week
Winter conditions for deer were about normal in most of the state with no unusual herd difficulties observed. In the Upper Peninsula whitetails were yarded in Baraga and Newberry districts and northern Crystal Falls and Escanaba districts while southern UP deer ranged to feed. In the northern lower peninsula deer ranged freely except near Gaylord Traverse City where yarding areas crusted with snow restricted movement. Depths of show ranged six inches to 214 feet in the UP and three inches to one and a half feet in the northern lower peninsula.

Lake Man Convicted In Hit-Run Case
James Harold Taylor of Lake Wag was convicted in Clare County Circuit Court of a hit and run driving charge after striking pedestrian Spencer Hill of Lake George and leaving the scene. Taylor, arrested November 15, 1966, faces sentencing later. he has prior DUI convictions and a revoked license.

Store owner Repels Bandit With Bold Stand
Jesse J. Wood 72 of Poritlas, Clare county, runs a Pontiac grocery. A bandit entered February 13 aimed a gun at him and demanded cash, but Wood refused to surrender money. The assailant fled after Wood stated no money would be taken. he believed the gun was unloaded.

US-10 Curve Crash Costs Man a Fine
