Royer Named Plant Manager at Holley Clare Division
Ed Royer was appointed plant manager at Holley Carburetor Clare Aircraft Division succeeding Robert Mettler who resigns for an executive post with MGM Brakes Detroit. Royer, 18-year Holley veteran, previously assistant plant manager, will lead tooling procurement and production equipment as Mettler moves to MGM Brakes. A send off for Mettler will be held at Town and Country with Warren Holley officials in attendance.

Trio Arrested For Gas Station Robbery Near Clare
A three man gang threatened Ulrich Standard attendant Joe Latarte early Sunday near Clare and fled with about 100 dollars. Troopers from Mt. Pleasant state police stopped their car on the expressway and arrested Terry Gill Jr 21 Jesse Hawkins 21 and Charles Williams 20 all of Flint. The money was recovered and Latarte identified the suspects. A separate Clare police report says two youths were caught with a jacket and two sweaters stolen from Beill’s Clothing Store near Beill’s, with more items found in the suspects’ car.

Roby Gershon son of Dr and Mrs J R Gershon captained Clare High Ski Team to a two race regional Alpine win at Thunder Mountain with a gold in slalom and bronze in giant slalom in Class C. He qualified for the Central Division Alpine Races in Minnesota on February 28 and a possible national meet in Alaska in March.

The Clare Parent Teacher Association sponsors a local scholarship foundation and forms a committee to draft bylaws and a nonprofit corporation proposal.
