Potter Named to Michigan Supreme Court by Governor
Attorney General William Wy. Potter was chosen by Governor Fred W. Greene to fill the Michigan Supreme Court vacancy caused by Justice John H. Bird's death. Born in 1869 in Barry County Potter studied law under Georges Cummings, gained admission in 1894, and began practice in Hastings in 1895. He has held civic and educational roles and is noted as an orator. He and Mrs. Potter own a home in Harrison and spend summers there.

Birthday Dinner Delightful Social at Methodist Church
Wednesday evening about 150 people attended the birthday dinner at the Methodist Episcopal Church. Mrs. A. H. Mulder as Martha Washington greeted guests. A program of songs readings and recitations by Miss Martha Jones followed in the social room. The feature was The Flag Medley by five girls with an encore, and all joined in singing the Star Spangled Banner. The room was decorated in Valentine colors with ferns and flowers.

Motorists Stage Short Change Stunt at Loomis
Two young motorists stopped at the Callihan store in Loomis and short changed manager Mrs. Edwards by five dollars after buying gasoline. They paid with a ten dollar bill and swapped denominations, left the store with a folded counterfeit look alike bill, and sped away. Officers later secured their license number and seek the pair.

Young Men Skid Before They Sled
Four local youths Sid Corman George Grover Roland Mussell and Rolland Krell while heading to Budd Lake last Sunday lost control on icy U S 27 near the ten mile corner. Their Zimmer Motor Sales car skidded went into a ditch and rolled over causing minor injuries and damage but no serious harm.

Pioneer Marcus Oman Dies After Weeks of Illness
Marcus Oman born September 10 1856 in Sweden immigrated to America in 1882 settling in Lake. He married Anna Oman in 1890 and had three daughters Mary Carrie Anna and four stepsons Louis John Peter and Charles. He died February 8 1928 aged 71 years 4 months 29 days. Funeral was February 10 at Lake Gleaner Hall with Rev. Teeter and burial in Lake cemetery.
