Clare Study Club met on Tuesday February 6 at the Hotel Doherty with Mrs Helen Lucille Doherty. A State Educational Department notice urged active participation in Februarys program as a club representative works with the Faculty and Board of Education to arrange a mass meeting. Mrs Doherty presented Miss Margaret Morgan who played piano solos Rustle of Spring and Seranata Moszkowski. Mrs Martha Bicknell gave a Hook report on Dusk in the Grove by Samuel Rogers noting its Atlantic $10 000 prize status in 1934.

Death of Clare county pioneer Thomas R Hutchinson
Thomas R Hutchinson a prominent Clare county resident died February 11 1935 after a brief illness. Born April 27 1857 in Port Hope Canada he moved to Port Huron Michigan then to Burnside Lapeer county before settling in Clare with Mary A Erb in 1888. He leaves his wife two brothers and a sister among other relatives.

The Citizens State Bank installed a delayed time lock safe to comply with burglary insurance rules. Bank president Jas S Bicknell explained the mechanism noting a robber might coerce an employee to turn the combination, but few will wait a half hour for the automatic lock to open.

Clare County Farm Census Starts With Four Workers In Field
The Federal Farm census in Clare county began Thursday morning with four field workers. Appointments and guidance were given by R. A. district supervisor Robert Long of Saginaw. The census covers Erin Ward Arthur and Sheridan townships and several villages and townships in the area. Information is kept confidential by the Department of Commerce and totals are released only if a township has five or more farms. The census has been conducted every five years since 1840 and will take several weeks to complete.

Louis M. Nims, SHRA work division director, survived a crash near Crystal Falls when a landing gear struck a snowbank. Col. Floyd B. Hyans piloted the plane. both Nims and Evans were treated for minor injuries and rode a train home. A photographer captured the crash on film and promised a duplicate print.

Aged Pioneer Mary Ann McCrimmon Passes At 80
After a four year illness Mary Ann McCrimmon aged 80 died last Saturday. Funeral services were held at St. Cecilia Church with Fr. Stanley Morrison officiating. Interment followed in St. Andrew's Cemetery in Saginaw. A longtime Clare resident, she was beloved by many in the area.

Renner Identified in School Break-In Case
John Renner, already jailed in Marquette for a Deputy Earl Martindale slaying, was identified by fingerprints from the city school break in on November 6. The entry damaged a safe door, stolen about $25 in change. Renner died in prison last week from a gun wound and blood poisoning after a January 17 incident.
