Mrs. Rhoda Moses fifth grade at Clare Public School held a pretend market on Friday January 25 to practice arithmetic with profit and change making. Students sold candy cupcakes popcorn Kool Ade cold chocolate and cookies while a candy and gum fish pond added activity. They tracked expenses and receipts and donated the $8.42 profit to the polio fund for March of Dimes.

Firefighters Respond as Furnace Blower Overheats at Cimmerer Home
Clare firemen were called to the Roy Cimmer residence early Sunday when the furnace blower overheated and filled the house with smoke. The owner disconnected the blower before arrival, and firemen replaced it to provide heat for Sunday's freezing temperatures. The Department was thanked for their help. The Fireman's annual party was held at Barnes Cafe the night before with a dinner and social hour.

Mrs Wentworth Dies In Flint After Long Clare Life
Mrs Anias Wentworth 88 died Sunday night January 30 in Flint at her daughter’s home. Born 1866 in Bedford Michigan she wed Albert Wentworth in 1892 and moved to Clare in 1906. Survived by daughter Mrs Anastasia Mullin and sons George Henry Sylvester, 39 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Funeral at St Cecelia’s 10:00 Wednesday with burial at St Cecelia’s cemetery. Doherty Inn Home handled arrangements.
