Clara county conservation officers report 81 forest fires in 1948 burning 259.50 acres with damage $785.60 and suppression costs $1 210.64. Fines for conservation law violations totaled 1 878.76 and court costs 548.75. Ark Byba laid to rest at Cherry Grove
Funeral services were held at Thurston Chapel for Ark Byba of Grant township who died December 21 at his home west of Clare. Rev. Chas B. Hahn officiated and interment followed in Cherry Grove cemetery. Born April 28 1871 in Ohio, he married Rhoda Rutherford October 9 1898. He is survived by his wife one adopted daughter Mrs Marguerite DeArmond of Detroit two grandchildren and many relatives.

Sarah Ann Robison of Sheridan township Clare county Michigan died December 20 at home aged 82. Born February 27 1866 in Novi Michigan she was married to Oscar D Robison June 7 1885.
