Athletic association to finance school balcony addition
Workmen are building a gym balcony at Clare High School to be finished before the Clare Lowell basketball game on January 5. The Board of Education authorized the project, with costs borne by the high school athletic association. The association funds all athletics expenses and plans to raise revenue this season to cover the new seating, though donations from supporters are welcome.

Matilda Dibble Dies in Mt. Pleasant at 82
Matilda Dibble born August 23 1864 in Potter county Pa died December 19 after months of illness at her Mt. Pleasant home. She married John Johnson in 1881 and leaves three daughters Mrs L D Winchell Alma, Mrs C A Welch Grand Rapids, Mrs John Crane Mt. Pleasant, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral held at home conducted by Rev Frank Bates with interment in Farwell cemetery.

Young Man Herman Leichti Dies at Early Age
The last rites for Herman Leichti were held Friday afternoon at his mother Mrs. Leichti’s home. Rev. W. W. Hurd conducted the service with interment in Cherry Grove Cemetery. Born September 7, 1891 in Isabella County, he moved to Flint six years ago and worked in Flint shops. Death occurred December 18 from apoplexy while repairing a car with a fellow worker. He is survived by his wife, four children, his mother, one brother, one sister, and other relatives.

Last Rites Held for Hatton Citizen
The funeral for Barbara Catherine Watt Hileman was held at the Congregational church in Harrison Hatton township with Rev. Rieinhardt officiating. Interment was at Maple Grove cemetery beside her husband I. A. Hileman. She was born March 5 1859 in Guernsey County Ohio married September 11 1877 and had twelve children. She died December 18 after a long illness. four sons and two sons in law served as pallbearers.

McFaden Caught in Greenville on Larceny Assault Charges
Vincent McFadden, sought in Clare and Isabella counties on larceny and assault charges, was arrested in Greenville Monday by John Irish and Walter Depp. Identified by Loren Green, a Greenville baker, the arrest occurred at Green’s shop. McFadden had left home December 11 and allegedly choked his mother to prevent door access. He was arraigned in Clare and bound over to the circuit court and is jailed at Harrison.

Autos Crash At US-27 Bridge Injures Mount Pleasant Pair
Dr. R. H. Miner and his wife were badly jolted with minor injuries after their car plunged down a 10 foot embankment near the US-27 bridge north of Mt. Pleasant.
