Clare Police report high interest in snowmobile use as Michigan enforces Act 74 Section 12. The article notes crossing rules, county road allowances, and a county airport ban from December 15 to April 1 1970. It cites booster estimates of snowmobile numbers and economic impact on sales fuel and tourism.
Delegates from counties attended a service at Clavengus Church in Harrison on December 30. A Red Cross blood drive invites donations of pint amounts with bloodmobile pickup and ride calls to Mrs. Marvin Heintz. A committee including J. M. Grim and Lee Swallow forms to organize socialism efforts. meeting January 13 aims to establish a permanent group.
The Sentinel reports rising employment among married women as shifts in work force expand across stores and factories. Estimates show about 33.3 percent of married women are now employed, up from 25.3 percent in 1960, with many balancing home duties and outside jobs. The Wednesday December 24 edition notes early closing for holiday.
Police report says at about 9 42 southbound on McEwan near Gateway Lanes a rear end collision injured both drivers. Robinette and Stuckert were treated and released at Clare Osteopathic Hospital. A second crash involving Richard Poet occurred as responders arrived. all three vehicles were towed.
The Clare team suffered its third straight loss this season as the Mustangs surged to a 42 42 tie entering the final period and pulled away behind hot shooting from Doug Filmore and Jeff Maxwell. Coach Ivan Davis guided Clare in a tight league contest.
Lee Eisenhauer was installed as Worshipful Master of John Q. Look Lodge 404 F and A M in ceremonies Saturday December 13 at the Clare Masonic Temple. Officers installed included Ed Pudway Giles Anderson John Collins Jack Ridderman Lester Cox Courtney Bauer Larry Everts George Brown Tom Beatty Karlyle Coveart Clarence Horn with installing officer George Wilson aided by Judge Donald Holbrook Ed Strouse Robert Seiter and Jack Green. Special music by Sylvia Brooks and Frank Warner with piano by Mrs Barbara Everts.
