The rink on east Wheaton avenue was prepared and strapped for flooding to serve skaters, with ample hotel and theater parking available.
Goldyn S. Cascaddan died suddenly Monday morning at about six at his home southeast of Clare due to a heart trouble. He was born July 25, 1867 in Kingsville Ontario and married Leva Melosh in 1892. He and his wife moved to Michigan in 1901 and lived near Clare for four years. He leaves his wife and eleven children, twenty eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, twenty eight descendants and many friends. Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday at ten with Rev. Harry Cleveland officiating. burial in Pontiac.

Christoph Phillip Haring aged 74 died December 6 1942 at his sister in law Lena Haring’s home on East Fifth Street Clare Michigan after years of declining health He was born May 19 1868 in Yadhausen Germany He came to Clare in 1806 worked on farms with brothers and was unmarried Funeral service was at 2:00 Tuesday at Thurston with Rev BE Leyrer of St John Lutheran Church and burial in Cherry Grove Cemetery beside his brother John
Michigan traffic plummeted after gasoline rationing began on December 1 with a 32.7 percent statewide drop from 27 automatic counting stations. US 27 near Cheboygan fell 66.5 percent. M 53 north of Marlette down 63 percent. US 16 near Lansing to Detroit down 50.7 percent. US 12 east of Marshall down 39.2 percent. US 10 northwest of Pontiac down 49.9 percent.
Youth from the high school class of the Sunday School will lead the Methodist Church service this Sunday, December 13. Readers, choir, and performers from the youth group prepare an all youth program including hymns, prayers, and scripture. An upcoming project is a glassed bulletin board at the church front.

All mothers are invited to bring babies and preschool children to be weighed, measured, examined, and immunized if desired. County Director Helen Lanting and County Nurse Ina Mary Young will supervise the clinic and offer professional advice on child health amid concerns about scarlet fever and respiratory diseases.
A missionary from Africa will preach at Clare Baptist Church on Sunday December 18 with both morning and evening services. He will show pictures from Africa including a man miraculously saved when buried alive under a chief's coffin and other scenes from the land of heathen darkness. Rev. BE. E. Redman invites all to attend and expect a blessing.
Mrs. John Rhodes of Clare County died Sunday noon at the home of her daughter Mrs. Lee Badgley in Sheridan township after three years of ill health. Born Mary Jane Styan July 25 1866 in Sherifhutton Yorkshire England she married John Rhodes January 29 1888. They emigrated to Canada in 1898 and settled in Arthur Township farming a large homestead. The couple endured pioneer hardships and raised a family including sons Henry and Thomas Rhodes. She passed away December 6 1942 at age 76 after a long devoted life as wife and mother. Her infant son died in England. Continued on Page Five.
More than 25 000 Michigan youths will be registered as the sixth general Selective Service in Michigan within December starting Friday. Registrants include men turning 18 in July to December this year with local boards handling entries. By January 1 1925 all 18 year olds register on turning 18. placements consider residence and local boards.
