Court Opens December Term With Few Cases in Clare County
The Clare County Circuit Court began a two day December term with only a few matters heard. The People versus Ruel W. Fairbanks and Delbert Wilson was nolle prosequied and the defendants discharged. Claud Reker pleaded guilty to liquor law possession and was placed on probation. Charles Bennett faced incestuous rape charges, later pleading guilty and receiving an eight to fifteen year State Prison sentence. Legion Holds First Meeting in New Location
Walter H. Larman Post No. 128 of the American Legion met Monday night in its new rooms at 415 McEwan Street with many members present including a Harrison delegation and Gordon Snelling of the Clarkston Post. The post displayed a framed citation from National Headquarters for going over the top prior to Armistice Day and conducted extensive business on decorating and organizing the new quarters.

Ideal Theatre Installs Wide Range Sound System
The Ideal Theatre in Detroit opens its doors with a gala on December 5 and unveils the latest Wide Range Western Electric sound system. Manager James Olson notes there will be no ticket price increase and claims the venue is the only theater within 200 miles to feature this equipment. Western Electric reports a costly five year Bell Labs effort. Other Michigan sites with Wide Range include Detroit’s Fox Michigan United Artists State and Roxy, with more installations planned.

Mrs. Chas Church Injured in Auto Wreck Near Sanford
Mr and Mrs Chas Church of Wise township were returning from Detroit after Thanksgiving when their car collided with another in Sanford. Mrs Church suffered head and facial injuries and was treated at a nearby residence before being brought home by Kriz Ambulance. Mr Church escaped with minor bruises. Both cars were badly damaged.

Former Clare Resident Killed in Flint Accident
Frank Pierson, a Clare county native, was killed Sunday night when his car struck a freight train in Flint while foggy conditions prevailed. He was son of William B and Hla Lyons Pierson and spent his boyhood in Arthur township before his family moved to Clare after his father’s death in 1907.

The Harrison Hunting and Fishing Club hosted its annual banquet on Wednesday evening December 6 at the Congregational church basement. Venison from the Gladwin division was served by Bert Norris with help from the church Auxiliary Society. After dinner guests moved to the Wilson Opera House for the speaking program.

Last week H. J. Foster installed an electric Landis G-12 stitching machine in his shoe repairing department. The new unit is of the latest type and can sew through a half inch to eight inch board or leather with ease. Foster spent considerably to provide first class prompt service to customers.

Christmas Baskets Drive For Clare Study Club
Remember your contribution to Christmas baskets. Baskets will be ready the Friday before Christmas and filled with vegetables fruit potatoes cabbage onions beets flour pancake flour cornmeal sugar and fresh meat for one meal. Many baskets go to homes with little children so candy or toys are welcome. Each store will host an empty box for extra cans or toys from now until Christmas.
