A union sacred concert featuring Clare area glee clubs and invited singers from Clare Lake City Marion McBain Cadillac will be held Sunday night at 7 30 in the Clare High School Auditorium. Admission is free with a collection to defray expenses. The program includes hymns anthems solos and duets under directors Francis Ratley and George Boyd with guest conductor Reese Veatch from Grand Rapids.

State Official Eugene Pettit Dies at Home
Eugene Pettit longtime Michigan State Conservation officer died suddenly at his Clare home at about eight oclock He was born in Baldwinsville New York December 25 1856 and moved to Hemlock Michigan at age twelve He served twenty five years with the State Conservation Department and is survived by his wife three sons a daughter and a brother Funeral services were held at his home conducted by Rev W W Hurd with attendees from the State Conservation Department and local community

Farm Residence Burns to Ground in Rosebush Area

Howlett Escapes Injury After Nighttime Wreck Near Mt Pleasant
John Howlett of this city was badly bruised in a crash four miles north of Mt Pleasant while driving to Mt Pleasant on plumbing business. He swerved to avoid a small moving light and a Valley Chemical Co truck with no lights, the car turning two and a half times before landing on the ditch bank. He was treated at Mt Pleasant and later at home, where he remained bedridden until Wednesday and is now able to be about.
