The Livingston’s Stewart well in section 21 east side encountered oil last week and after an acid treatment flowed 80 barrels in 30 minutes and 400 barrels per day. Other wells like Merlon-Pollock No 4 in section 26 and Hart Beatty in section 22 show rising production. Several wells progress with casing runs and depths noted while Archbold No 1 reaches 1770 feet and Wilson Estate reaches 1200 feet.

Mr and Mrs John Sparbel marked their thirty fifth wedding anniversary at their home three miles west of the city. Nine children attended along with spouses and grandchildren for a dinner of praise for the mother’s cooking. Farm Home in Wise Township Destroyed by Fire
Mrs Almyra Wedel and Fred Wedel of Wise escaped a Monday morning blaze that consumed their farm home after more than thirty years of occupation. The house and contents were a total loss. Mrs Wedel suffered burns to arms feet and hair and exposure. Loss estimated around 3000. She will spend the winter with her daughter in Lansing.

Lou B Winsor known as Uncle Loi to Michigan Masons was laid to rest in Hillsdale on November 12 after a life of service as grand secretary and lodge builder. New Rules Speed Up Bas Basketball This Year
Two new rules in the official basketball rule book aim to speed up play and reduce whistle blowing. One allows a slap below the wrist on a ball holder without a foul, increasing pace. The other requires both hands on the ball for a held ball to trigger a jump ball, plus a six foot circular arrangement around jumpers to curb scrambles.
Rosebush Man Loses Hand in Corn Shredder Accident
Ed Neelands of a Rosebush area farm suffered the loss of a hand Monday while feeding a corn shredder. His hand was pulled into the knives as he reached for an ear. He was treated at Clare County General Hospital. Also reported is Joseph Wardell of Farwell slowly recovering from injuries eleven days after an auto crash and in a semi conscious state.

Harold Hoag 27 died November 25 at Clare County General Hospital from burns suffered while building a fire at his Farwell home the prior Saturday.
