No Agreement Reached In Coleman Teacher Dispute

The Coleman Education Association and the Board of Education remain at odds over a master contract. The teachers rejected a prior bid 55 to 6, citing opposition to a multi year term and partial restoration of funds from a work stoppage. The board filed a $10 000 damage suit against six teachers while the union sought an unfair labor practice hearing. A temporary injunction governing teacher return to class is to be reviewed December 10 in Midland County Circuit Court.

Cederberg names census director for 10th District

Congressman Elford A. Cederberg of Michigan announces Richard Swinehart of Midland and Roscommon as Manager of the Midland census office for the 1970 Decennial Census. Swinehart will oversee compiling figures for fourteen counties served from Midland, with about 35 supervisors and 400 enumerators under his direction.

Santas Coming This Weekend in Clare News

Santa arrives by fire truck on December 6 at 10 in the morning starting at Lone Pine and visiting downtown Clare to hand out candy. A second visit is planned December 13 at the Ideal Theatre for a free 1 p.m. show for children under 12. Winners from the Santa letter box at Green's Clothing Store will receive a dollar and have letters printed in the Sentinel. Christmas shopping hours and free parking begin mid month with downtown music by Russ's Record Shop.

Two Planes Crash At Harrison Airport

Harrison Airport, recently reopened after two years, suffered two crashes in under a week. The latest occurred Sunday at 5:30 p.m. as a two person flight came up short of the runway. no one was injured. A prior crash Friday left a single occupant with serious injuries after attempting to avoid snowmobiles on the runway.

The December schedule for the Well Child Clinic is announced. It will be at Clare City Hall on Thursday December 11 from 9 to 11 a.m. The following week on December 18 the clinic moves to the Courthouse in Harrison from 9 to 11 a.m.
