Ford Agency to Hold Public Reception Today

The Ford agency in Clare invites the public to a reception today at I. E. Hampton’s sales rooms to unveil the new Ford automobile praised by Henry Ford for its design. The display highlights speed, four wheel brakes, a 40 horsepower engine, European styling, and six models including phaeton and sedan.

Frank Schaaf Dies Sudden in Harrison Michigan

Frank Schaaf died at his Harrison home on November 21 1927 at 8 80 in the morning. He was 61 years old. The cause was heart trouble and exertion while adjusting a grate. He was born February 16 1864 in Venice township Seneca County Ohio. He married Bertha M Weaver January 20 1884 and had three sons Fred W Don L Carl C and three daughters Bernice M Collins Gladys N Hallgren Dora F Egbert. Funeral at Harrison Congregational Church with Rev Hi B Johnson and Rev A F Light. Burial in Harrison Cemetery with John J Carton Lodge 436 RF A M. He was a respected citizen and loyal lodge member.

Gains Finch oldest Freeman township resident died November 15 at his brother Merrit Finch’s home. Funeral held at Gleaner Hall Lake conducted by Rev W W Hurd with burial at Lake cemetery. Born Macomb county 1889 moved to Hillsdale 1865 married Almira Sabins March 25 1882. children Carrie and Warren. Warren preceded father in death. daughter and brother left grieving.

Guild Supper and Fair at Congregational Church

Night school session highlights dairy feeding needs

A. C. Baltzer of Michigan State College told an agricultural high school audience that most dairy cows are underfed for milk production. He urged alfalfa bases for feed, sweet clover pasture in summer, silage and root crops for energy, and balanced rations to save money.

Large Turnout at Clare County School Officers Meeting

About 130 Clare County school officers gathered at Harrison Court House for the biennial meeting called by the state superintendent. Speaker George N. Otwell discussed the New School Code and district responsibilities, with focus on simplifying laws and distributing copies to districts.

Amos Andrews Dies After Weeklong Illness at Lake

Amos Andrews died at his daughter Mrs. Hoa Jahnstock's home in Lake on November 22 after a week of illness from a stroke. Born 1851 in Genesee county, he married Sarah Farr in 1870 and had five children, three of whom survive Fabn stock and Daniel of Lake and Mrs. Eirza Swinehart of Saginaw. He left a brother Edwin of Genesee, eighteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were at Gleaner hall in Lake, with burial in Lake Cemetery.

Delegation Seeks Fast Paving Of U S 27 Route

Seventy five men from Alma Forest Hill Shepherd Mt Pleasant Rosebush and Clare received a hearing before Governor Fred W Green and the State Administrative Board in Lansing Monday. They urged early paving of the 36 mile U S 27 stretch between Alma and Clare citing heavy truck traffic sugar beet movements and student travel adding to strain on the road. Rev H B Johnson spoke for the group and introduced local officials and state representatives. The petition was referred to the Administrative Board highway committee for action.
