Red Eagle recaptured after prison escape near Clare County
Lonnie Chambers alias Red Eagle, an escaped prisoner from Sonia's hospital for the criminally insane, was recaptured Monday night about one hour after escaping. State Police troopers from Mt Pleasant and other posts tracked him to a car lot half a block east of the Poston M-20, where he was found hiding in a car trunk. He had been en route to Ionia after an appearance in Clare County Circuit Court related to reopening his murder trial.
