Ground Broken for Catholic Parsonage in Clare
Ground was broken Monday for a new ten thousand dollar parsonage at the corner of Hast Highth and McEwan streets by St. Cecilia Catholic church. John E. First Mile Of Graveled Road Now Has Concrete
The first mile south of Clare on U S 27 has concrete paving, completing the first mile of a 15 mile gravel stretch between Clare and Mt Pleasant. Construction finished twenty seven years ago last winter under Vernon township highway commissioner John Asline. Local farmers and Clare merchants funded labor, with a $64.50 balance paid equally by Vernon township and Clare businessmen.

Ringing Apple Trees Harms Crops Says Michigan Study
Michigan State College horticulturists warn that ringing or girdling branches to hasten fruiting injures trees by inviting disease.
