State Recommends Delay for Mid Michigan Community College Start

State 4-H Show to Feature 3000 Youths at MSU
Michigan 4-Hers from every county will participate in the 52nd State 4-H Show August 22 to 25 on the Michigan State University campus. More than 3,000 youths will take part in demonstrations judging contests and educational events under the guidance of Extension 4-H staff led by Carolyn C. Bay. Isabella County readies the 22nd Annual Youth and Farm Fair August 22 26 at Island Park Mt Pleasant. Milk Motel opens as Wentworths install enclosed cow housing
The Wentworth brothers and father install a sealed barn with forced ventilation for 60 cows north of Clare at Grant and Surrey Road. Cows are fed by an automatic silo conveyor, housed in free stalls with sawdust bedding. Milking will use a double six parlor and manure is stored in a cement tank.

New Rules For Student Deferments

Three Farwell area scouts join 15 thousand nationwide to spend nearly two weeks at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico this summer. The Saginaw Bay Area Council party includes Gary Parsons LaVern Halstead and Terry Bradley with travel by train to Chicago and Denver then a chartered bus to Cimarron. They hike twelve days carrying 40 pound packs with activities such as archaeology panning gold Tooth of Time climbing and fishing then return via Fort Carson Denver and a Chicago tri city flight arriving August 26.
